activation problem xp pro RRS feed

  • Question

  • These problems are not on this computer. They are on my laptop. I can get into windows on my laptop, but now I can't seem to access the internet search line. I bought an xp pro oem disk to fix an illegal copy of xp pro that was running on a used computer that I bought. I went through the system recovery console process on the oem cd and windows reloaded and my original files seem to be mostly ok. Still I can't get the new product registered. Any help?

  • Pat,

Thank you for providing us with the Diagnostic results. All appears well. You will need to telephone activate Windows. Please follow the steps below and you should be up and running in now time :).

Telephone numbers for Activation Centers vary by product license and country/region. Use the number provided on your Activation Wizard screen to call the Microsoft Activation Center.  Please follow the below guidance for telephone activation for activating Windows.

To contact a Microsoft customer service representative to activate Windows by phone, follow these steps:

    1.

Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Activate Windows.

Or, click the Windows Activation icon in the notification area.

    2.

Click Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to active Windows now.

    3.

Click Read the Windows Product Activation Privacy Statement, click Back, and then click Next.

    4.

Follow the steps in the Activate Windows by phone dialog box, and then click Next.

Note The number appears now and differs based on the location that you select.

    5.

When activation is completed and you receive the following message, click OK.

You have successfully activated your copy of Windows.
