  • Johnsho,

The XP Pro installation seems to still have the generic IBM master product key installed.

Try the Product Key Updater Utility here:  http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/selfhelp/pkuinstructions.aspx

It should be able to change the OBM master key to your presumably genuine XP Pro Product Key.

Post back to let us know if it worked for you!

  • Johnsho,

It appears that you are trying to use recovery or installation media specifically licensed for IBM/Lenovo computers to install XP Pro onto a non-IBM/Lenovo computer.  This is not authorized.

Please visit your favorite online or local computer store and purchase a full retail or OEM license for the edition of Windows XP that you want to install on your non-IBM/Lenovo computer.

  • I had installed this machine from a HDD image from another IBM pc. During the first login itself it asked for activation and i purchased a new Product liscense and got it activated from microsoft on phone. During restart it is again asking for activation.

    New Liscence*****-*****-WR8HV-HGKPP-2TH6G.
