Is this an Upgrade License or a Full Retail? The PID doesn't tell us which.
The CID (The second group in the PID) isn't one normally associated with MSDN - I suggest that you attempt Telephone Activation, and see what they have to say.
telephone activation (operator calls)
Click on the Start button
in the Search box, type
SLUI 4
and hit the Enter key
follow the instructions, but when asked which service you require by the telephone ansafone, do NOT reply - this should force an operator to respond, who can deal with you

You have a Dell Inspiron 5100 Series Notebook built in 2003. It is too old to run Windows 7. I suggest you recycle this obsolete PC and purchase a new one.

Yes, I know what the PC is. With maxed memory, a wireless card and an mSATA ssd it's doing what it needs to do (with a genuine copy of Win 7 Pro) just fine, thanks. I was curious about the copy of Win 7 I dual booted just to see what members of this forum thought. Thanks, though.
It's the only software I've been silly enough to buy off eBay so if anyone can comment on the P.I.D. and if it is likely an abused MSDN copy, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
