  • Question

  • Hi,

i just discovered something strange. The Recognition points ( at the top of the page ) doesn`t match the "Points by application".

On the activity tab regarding the Libraray it keeps saying "less than a minute ago" since an hour.

  • Hi Hannes,

Mine doesn't match either, maybe this is TRUE for everyone, for some reason.

Can someone at Microsoft explain this please?

  • First thinking then typing should be the way ! How could the experience points be higher now then this morning if they will be updated only once a day .

I need to go home or quit typing here ;-)

  • On a related note - can the order of the tabs be opposite? Say, I always check My Activities page, but now I will need to use an extra click to switch to it. In my opinion, Activities page is more important than Stats.

  • Naomi, thank you for the feedback.

Did you know that you can navigate directly to your activity tab by adding a /activity to the end of your profile URL.

  • But I don't do that. I always click on the My Profile button while I am in the forums. Say, I'm answering questions and notice that my points went up - I need to check my Activity to see which post got marks. I really need the Activity page to be the first. I already experience inconvenience because of extra clicks.

  • Thanks for the feedback Naomi and for describing your usage scenario. Definitely interested in understanding the usage patterns of the updated profile page.

I definitely understand and appreciate your scenario though. We'll look at whether we switch the tabs based on the usage data. For example, if the majority of views are to a persons own profile and people regularly switch to the activity tab, it'd definitely make sense to switch the order. If the majority of views are to other peoples profiles and the activity tab isn't being switched to, we'll may not switch it back immediately. Maybe we make it so you can customize the order one day too.

  • Yes, if it can be customized, it will solve the problem too. For now it's an inconvenience for me, as I already noted.

  • Yes , an option to have it one way or the other would be the ideal.

I agree with Naomi, about having the activities page first, but I can imagine (as there always will be) that there might be people who prefer it the way it is now.

  • Thanks for the feedback so far folks.

One thought that we are mulling over is showing a couple (3-5) of your most recent activities at the top of the experience tab. Maybe fading in or tickering across the page (well maybe not, but we always like to laugh at using the <MARQUEE> tag ;-). That way you'd still have the longer activity list tab but get that instanct "fix" at a glance.

If that makes sense, I'd be interested in your thoughts on the idea.

  • I like this idea also - it will serve the purpose, I guess. Although may be not. Say, I opened the site in the morning. The first thing I usually do is to check what has changed over the night. The next step for me is to check My Threads. And after that I continue on working in my favorite forum from top to bottom the new threads from my last login.
