Windows 8.1, Office 2010. When opening a file via File/Open I receive "location not available" for a deleted folder

I deleted the missing folder but need to know how to stop this message from appearing whenever I use the "file/open" feature of the MS Office 2010 package for the first time after starting the individual programs. I deleted all the references to this location from the MRU list for Word, it wasn't in the MRU list for Excel, but the message still happens.
Ps I recognize this is in the wrong forum, but I don't actually know where to put it.
