ok i have studied and obtained MCP and MCDST certification, done the coursework for A+ but not taken exam. i am currently a staff nurse trying to change career into IT support, probably helpdesk being the first step. the qualifications i have don't seem to be enough to tempt anyone into giving me an interview never mind a job. any suggestions on next training course i should be taking to help me get onto the IT ladder?Friday, August 20, 2010 8:43 AM

Hi,
Its your nice step that you want to move in IT and as you stated help desk will be the first step for you in field so if you want to become a real professional in help desk support so I will suggest you to get certification of Windows 7 which will provide you better edge in your field here you can find the details of these exams.

Also I will suggest you MCITP not MCDST .

if you plan on doing any hardware or deskside support I would suggest getting the CompTIA A+. For hardware support most vendors, if not all, require the A+ to get their certifications. If you plan on staying helpdesk with no hardware support then the MCITP certification is a good certification route.
