Disc clean won't compress files RRS feed

  • Question

  • My disc clean will not compress files on One Care's command  nor if I enter the command from My Computer.  It does all the other commands (ie: delete temporary files, etc.).  Can you direct me?  Thanks.

  • What are your expectations for compressing files? During the disk clean operation (from System Tools or during a OneCare Tune-up) files that are found to be used very little may be compressed on disk to save space. If you have a roomy hard drive, it really won't compress many files if any.

You also need to set an option in Windows Explorer to see that the files are compressed, they don't get renamed or added to an archive, they will simply change color if you have that Explorer option set.

  • Another possibility you may want to look at is documented in this KB, Bonnie.
