MS Dynamics CRM 4.0 Connector for SSRS required for single server installation? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have installed MS Dynamics CRM 4.0 on a server has SQL Server 2008 and Reporting services on the same server(single serevr installation). Is it required to install the connector for SSRS in this case, or it is required only when installing crm 4.0 on diffrent server that the reporting server?

P.S. When Iam able to see the CRM site "http://server:5555/"

and also when i open the "SQL server reporting services" site using this url "http://server:8080/", I found the "ServerName_MSCRM".

So Is it required to install the connector for SSRS? and Can I work with the CRM site from public internet without the connector?

It will be required if you are going to implement IFD mode.

  • Hi,

I had issues with running reports and need to install the Data Connector, this was done while speaking to a Microsoft Support Technician and I posed this exact question to him and he advised that it is always best to install the connector either in Single or Multiple server installs.

Sorry to say this but I dont think that Jerry's answer was all that helpful and perhaps should not be marked as the answer!

  • David,

Sorry you didn't think I answered your question but it isn't required except for IFD mode and when installing CRM on SBS 2008 and for IFD mode. The only other environment would be if you are running into double hop keberos issues, but since you are on the same machine and didn't report any reporting issues I did the best to answer the question with the information you provided.
