Getting Errors when attempting restore RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been using One Care Live since it was intoduced by Microsoft. I had to re-format my laptop so I did a backup before doing so.

once my operating system was re-loaded I re-installed One Care Live and registered online.

when I went to restore my previous backup it gives me the following error message

"Unknown problems are preventing restore from continuing at this time. To correct this problem, try again later or restart your computer."

I have done both things with no luck.

The restore program sees my previous backup on the external USB hardrive. but when I select this backup to restore I get the above error.

Does anyone know a way around this or a different way to restore the files?

    Thank You

  • Are you selecting the option to perform a custom restore? If not, do that.

Another solution that people have found when this happens is to configure OneCare backup first. Select "what" to be a very limited set of files. For "Where" point to the same external drive. A new backup folder should be created by OneCare and the backup will complete. Now, try the custom restore (from another computer) and point to the older backup set.
