Windows 7 Ultimate counterfeit???

Question
-
Hello,
I bought a Windows 7 from Amazon marketplace as a stand alone, not in a computer. It works but the key is incorrect. We have 20 days to register. After calling Microsoft they said the license was incorrect. Checking through the counterfeit measures I think it may be counterfeit. The wavy copper hologram is a sticker.
I contacted the seller and told them about the hologram sticker.
The seller answered
" Hi there
This should not be the case at all; the product is 100% genuine and Microsoft have recently released and update which is showing some of their products as having the incorrect license whichs is a complete error on their part.
We shall put in an order for a new code - it takes 5 days to receive, as soon as we get it we shall message you; this does rectify this issue easily
We do require the code you have been given in order to forward it on and get a new cord ordered."
It was an immediate response, less then 5 minutes (felt automated to me).
I have run the Microsoft genuine tool which says...

Windows Product ID: 00426-067-2151606-86451
Windows License Type: Retail
Product Name: Windows 7 UltimateIndicates a MSDN key which should never be sold to an individual and is only licensed to the person that has an MSDN subscription. As you said that you got this through Amazon Marketplace then it is a fraudulent copy.
Demand a refund of the price, not another key. The seller is only trying to buy time until the time for you to make a claim against them through Amazon Marketplace has elapsed.
Report them to Amazon but also file a piracy report through www.microsoft.com/piracy even if you get the purchase price back.
You should also read the stickys and announcements at the top of this forum for additional information about blocked (was eBay) keys.
Also I see that you have Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 - 100 Genuine as a product on the computer. This is a volume licensed product that is only sold legitimately to businesses in amounts of 5 installs or more and has been widely sold as counterfeit. If you purchased this through the same channel (online through eBay, Amazon Marketplace or the like it is also counterfeit but just hasn't been flagged my Microsoft yet. I would also demand a refund of the purchase price for that product and report the product to Microsoft also. If you are part of a business establishment that has a legitimate license for Office Enterprise do not worry about this last paragraph.

Thank you for the fast answer, I already contacted amazon and in three days if I don't get the refund they will proced against him and I will get a full refaund either way. About the Microsoft office, it was bought apart through a scheme in my work place (NHS) so is legitimate and i am aware it is a bulk licence. But thanks for the help.

OK, thanks for the feedback and good luck on getting the refund. Still report the piracy of the operating system please.
