Remove 'Add Record' from Subgrid RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good Afternoon Everyone,

We have an Account form that displays useful information about customer, one of which is a subgrid that lists all of the customers Active Contracts.  The subgrid contains all the useful stuff, such as the search the associated records view, but also the '+' add new record button.

On some of the subgrids this is useful, Opportunities as an example, but in our business process contracts should not be created without following the proper process and creating them from the Account would circumvent that.

Is it possible to remove the '+' without removing the users permission to create the record generally?

    Many Thanks

  • Greetings MattDocFTA,

To start, what version of CRM are you using as each version has a large list of differences.

I'm guessing the [+Add new record] appears on the ribbon on top of the entity (as in CRM 2011)?

To change this, safely, I'd recommend to install the free CRM solution [Ribbon Workbench]. This is a nice CRM tool that allows you to add/remove/hide ribbon buttons on any entity without changing any XML.

To modify the subgrid, you have to modify the ribbon of the entity that shows in the subgrid.

    • On the Account entity; you have a subgrid that shows Contacts
    • To modify the subgrid add button; you will have to modify the Contact entity ribbon

    I hope this helps.
