Have Home and Student installed, not Small Business - trying to download add-in for PDF converting RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 installed on my laptop. I tried to download the add-in for converting to PDF but after running validation, Microsoft said that my version of Office Small Business failed validation. I have never purchased Small Business or installed it on my laptop. The validation said nothing about Home and Student being on my computer.

  • areno,

Thank you for contacting the Office Genuine Advantage (OGA) program forum. I would like to provide some available options we have for assisting customers to address issues they are currently experiencing.

The following article will allow you to download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. Use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and uninstall all Microsoft Office programs 2003 and below (NOT OFFICE 2007) on your computer. Then reinstall Microsoft Office using the genuine Office installation media  and product key. See below:

KB290301 – Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

The following link provides information for the Windows Product Key Update Tool instructions.

    http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/selfhelp/PkuInstructions.aspx?displayLang=enUtility

If you are still having issues, download the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool.  Then click the Run button. Then click the Run button again. Then click the Continue button to perform the diagnostic. The Windows tab should show, click the Copy button to paste your report to the clipboard.  Then paste the report into a New Post on this Forum by adding a post in it and pressing Ctrl V (to paste the text). Clicking the OK button will clear the Diagnostic window. Here is the download link:

     http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

We can take a look at your diagnostic report and try to offer you some suggestions which may or may not resolve your issue.

    Rick, MS
