Wrong nomber of core on a computenode RRS feed

  • Question

  • hi,
    I have 16 DELL R410 bi-sockets (8 cores each node)
i see 16 cores on one of them in the HPC Manager. I have re-image the node, but I still see 16 core on it.

    Any idea ?

  • Hello there
Sounds like you have Logical Processors (AKA Hyperthreading) enabled in the BIOS on that node. To check this out / switch it off go into the BIOS and disable Processor Settings / Logical Processor.
Of course depending on your workloads you may want Logical Processors to be enabled. It's worth checking out Dell's recommended BIOS settings for HPC nodes: http://i.dell.com/sites/content/business/solutions/whitepapers/en/documents/HPC_Dell_11G_BIOS_Options.pdf there's some interesting stuff in there...
