Dynamics CRM 2011 in a mixed B2B and B2C scenario. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am currently working on a Dynamics CRM 2011 implementation for a customer that has got B2B customers and B2C customers. I see that most advises for a B2C implementation is to register the consumer as a contact and register opportunities, etc. under the contact entity. Current implementation did exactly that, we registered the B2C customers as contacts and registered the businesses under accounts. However we are currently running into a few issues:

    (1) Users want to search in all customers, weather consumer or business.

    (2) We're linking with an ERP system that just knows relations, a relation field is available to indicate if it is a consumer or business relation. Synchronising both makes the synchronisation complex.

    (3) B2B contacts (linked to an account) and B2C consumers are the same contact entity, which leads to user errors.

Because of the above, I am considering to move the B2C consumers to the accounts, with an extra field indicating it is consumer or business (like in the ERP system we are using).

Any advice or experiences, cons/pros to this scenario?
