UK replacement for MS Money 2005 which works in Windows 10? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've been using the UK version of Microsoft Money 2005 for many years and I'm looking for a supported product to replace it. MS Money 2005 is working in Windows 10 Pro using the registry fix on this forum but I wonder how long it will continue to work.

I'm using  last UK version of MS Money 2005,  file name Money2005-UK-QFE2.EXE,  version 14.0.120.1105.

I need a solution which meets the following criteria:

    1. Can import my existing Money 2005 file going back 15 years

    2. Supports transactions in sterling (£)

    3. Supports share and unit trust transactions in addition to banking / savings accounts.

    4. Is available and supported in the UK

What product do people recommend to replace the UK version of MS Money 2005? I asked Quicken support but they couldn't say whether Quicken would import data from the UK version of MS Money 2005. Someone mentioned Home Accounts 4 but the firm advise it cannot import a MS Money file and has limited support for shares and investments

  • Have a look at AceMoney. Does most of what you want. You can try it for free.

  • I tried AceMoney and can import the UK MS Money 2005 file in XML format all in one go. Importing investments is also easy.

However, the interface is primitive even compared to MS Money 2005 so I'd prefer to keep using Money until it expires. I'll keep AceMoney as an option if I need to use it one day (should the product still be around).

Most of the other products I've seen recommended can only import QIF files from MS Money which is very tedious if you have lots of accounts and many don't support investments (shares, unit trusts etc).
