Suggestion for Enhancement in Windows Mobile 6.5 Appointment RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I just recently switch to Windows Phone running Windows Mobile 6.5 from Symbian OS and I would like to suggest the following enhancement to the Appointment function in the Calendar:

    1. Click on the Appointment Menu only have "New", "Delete" functions, it would be nice to have a "Copy" or "Duplicate" function such that I can duplicate the current appointment into another date & time. For example, I have regular monthly meeting so I can setup an appointment in Jan 2010 and then copied it to Feb 2010 and change the date/time.

    2. The reminder setting in the Appointment only provides a list for selection, such as 5 minutes before, 10 minutes before, 15 minutes before, 1 hour before, 2 hours before. However, I would like to be able to set a particular time such as 06:00PM regardless of the appointment time.

  • Thanks for the suggestions Wyatt.  I like (and agree with) your suggestions.  I am moving this thread to the "suggestion box" area of the forums.  The Mobile device team does look at them.

  • If you want to Copy or Duplicate an appointment on your device, just press & hold your stylus on the appointment and choose Copy from the popup menu.  (this also works for other applications, such as Contacts and Tasks).

But that Copy is to Copy the TEXT of the appointment, NOT COPY the whole Appointment. I want to have the WHOLE appointment copied to another date, for example:

I have setup an appointment as follow:

    ABC Convention Center
    10 Jan 2010
    09:00am

If using the "Copy" function you mentioned, you can only copy the "ABC Convention Center" instead of copying the date and time !

If there is a Copy function, I can copy the above appointment and then change the date to say:

    10 Feb 2010
    09:00am

    OR

    10 Jan 2011
    09:00am

    3. The setting of the appointment time is using a scroller UI to scroll to the hour and minute, however, I would prefer to have an Up/Down Arrow UI like the setting of local time/alarm in "Start -> Settings -> Date & Time -> Local time settings", similarly this Up/Down Arrow UI could be applied to the setting of reminder time as I mentioned in item 2 !

  • If you Copy the appointment and then move to the date you want the copied appointment to show up on, then press & hold the stylus on that date, you can paste it there and everything is copied.

For calendar items like that, you could also create a recurring calendar entry.

If the Appointment title is the ONLY information to Copy, then your method will work perfectly, but what if I want to copy the Appointment title, the reminder time, the category, the status in 1 click ?

  • EVERYTHING is copying using my method (appointment title, reminder time, category, status, everything), not just the subject.  Are you using the Calendar application when you do this or HTC's Calendar application?

  • I have been a Windows Mobile user for several years and had been frustrated by the same issue.  However, your question of which calendar application was in use is the key.  It is indeed the HTC Touchflo calendar that does not allow copying.  I have added the standard calendar as a shortcut, and it does allow the copy/paste function, and everything copies through to Outlook.  Thank you for the enlightenment.
