"Unknown Error" in this forum RRS feed

  • Question

  • Whenever I do anything in this forum with my corporate windows live id, I get an "Unknown Error" message so I cannot use it at all. Where can I place my concern about this? Whom can I contact?

  • I have the same error on my PC at work.  I already reported the problem on Sunday at the webpage below "report a bug" link

    1) Does it happen on all computers?  I can post at work, but not at home with same account.

    2) Try clearing cookies and try again.

    3) When posting watch the color of the URL address.  It should go green.  If you get an error the certificate may need to be updated.

    4) Did any changes to your firewall or virus checker?

    5) What version of IE is installed on your PC? Compare IE settings between workiong and non working PCs to see if there are any differences.

I've been having the problem intermittenly for a couple of months (both work and home PC).  For two weeks I didn't have any errors.  Finally the middle of last week only my home PC stopped working.  I still didn't get any response from Microsoft from my post on Sunday.

  • I get this on my work computer sometimes, but never at home.  =P

When the work computer won't behave, I click the "Compatibility View" button in IE's address bar and that ususally stops the error message.

  • thank you for your responses!

just tried with the trouble account from my notebook with IE and chrome. Always get that "Unknown error" js message popping up.

    happens on all computers
    happens with all browsers
    no firewall
    no virus checker.

using ie 9 I see that http 500 with the response "Unknown Error" comes back for the url

  • Compatibility view also failed with me.  Up util the middle of last week, trying a few times you could get a response posted because it was intermittentent.  Since last week nothing seems to fix this issue.  The error message is coming directly from the Microsoft Server.  It has something to do with the HTTP options but having found out which options are causing the issue.

  • Hi,

I have the same issue with IE. I posted it inside the forums issues forum.

But the interesting thing is that it sometimes work and sometimes does not work. So when I wrote a reply today on IE, I got this error. The standard procedure is for me to copy my post, refresh the page and the start a reply again and copy my content in again. But that didn't work for me. So I opened Firefox, posted my reply there and commited it successfully.
Afterwards I pressed reply again inside the IE and the reply was posted, too. Really strange :)

So far Firefox seems to not have this issue at all. IE has this problem at work but as far as I know not from home. (So maybe it is an issue of IE together with a proxy?)

Hopefully Microsoft can sort this out.

    With kind regards,

  • Hi Citykid,

Here is a dedicated forum for forum issues, and I have moved it there.

    Sorry for the bad experience.

    Thank you.
