Measure up - 70-410. How similar to proper exam RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm finally getting round to upgrading my MCP to Windows Server 2012 (ultimatum from MS about using my MCP for an Action Pack).

I've paid for the Measure-Up practice exams. First run through, I'm finding the questions a bit odd - very detailed about specific PowerShell commands and GPO stuff. Nothing on licensing, very little on versions. Quite different to those in the MS book.

When I did this exam originally (for Windows 2000), a lot of it was the higher level stuff.

Has the exam changed that much, or are the questions from Measure-up atypical?

    Thanks

    Andrew

  • I'm not familiar with the Measure Up stuff but.. I've passed the Windows 2012 exam in December 2012.

I can tell you it is very detail oriented.. powershell commands, GPO, etc.. the exams have become much more specific or hands on oriented to weed out the paper MCSE's of old.

I'd suggest you really play around in your lab to have a thorough understanding.

  • Hi,

MeasureUp and SelftestSoftware are two reputable practice exam vendors. When they decide to prepare a practice exam, they start of with the same list of skills measured as Microsoft Learning lists on their page for the exam.

They hire a team of subject matter experts to write the exams. What this means to you is that the practice exams cover the same material as the Microsoft exam. But, like anything else, different groups of people may end up delivering slightly different content.

For me, the biggest value of the practice exam questions are the explanations. Both vendors provide detailed explanations with helpful hyperlinks.

    Good luck!

  • Thanks all for the info.

Seems I don't need to recertify after all - the MCP update was if I wanted to continue as a Small Business Specialist.

For the Action Pack, I just need to do the MS online assessment - trivial questions that haven't changed in 2 years.

Must admit, I have more respect for people who go through the MCP process now!
