OneCare is finally cleaning unesseceary files and defraging (sort of) RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • It did a Tune Up last night and it finally gave me a successful report on Cleaning up unesseceary files and it somewhat defraged my HDD.  The error it gives for that now is that some files are super fragmented and that OneCare could not defrag those items.

Thanks for fixing that bug though.

  • Personally, I think they still have the messaging wrong for defrag based on the design of Tune-up. If, by design, defrag is set to run for 15 minutes as part of tune-up, as long as it ran, it should *not* report that your PC is still fragmented. It will *always* be fragmented. As soon as the defrag is done, new fragments are created. That's just how the file system works. :-)

  • It actually did a decent job though.  I have Vista and XP on dual boot and according to the defrag system on XP, Tune-up did a good job (since the drive was only 2% fragmented).  It also completely defragmented the XP partition fully.
