CRM 2011 RTM Install Error RRS feed

  • CRM 2011 RTM (version: 5.0.9588.583)

    SERVER A: CRM server : Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1

    SERVER B: SQL Server: Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 with SSQL 2008 R2 Standard Edition

    Logged onto the CRM server as a domain/local admin, the user account has sysadmin rights in getting the following error message on install:

    16:33:30|  Error| System.Exception: Action Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Server.GrantConfigDBDatabaseAccessAction failed. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Windows NT user or group 'XXXX\SQLAccessGroup {GUID XXXXXXXXXXXXXX}' not found. Check the name again.

    Any ideas

  • Make sure the running user is a member of the following groups in the Active directory,

    • PrivUserGroup
    • PrivReportingGroup
    • ReportingGroup
    • SQLAccessGroup
    • UserGroup

    And, here is a MS KB article which explains how to install CRM with minimum permissions (Though it is for CRM 4, the requirements is the same).

  • Hello -

    You can try removing and re-adding the server to the domain.  This is more common when using hyper-v with snapshots or if a machine has been shutdown for an extended amount of time.
