Vista Ultimate Activation Error RRS feed

  • Question

  • I had upgraded my copy of XP Pro to Vista Ultimate, and needed to reinstall. When I reinstalled I went to activate it as usual, and I got the following error, which I have never experienced before:

"The product key you typed is already in use"

Is there anyway you can clear it from the system if I give you my PID, because I cannot use phone activation.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Michael,

Everything appears good with your copy of Vista. Although, I do notice that you Activated this Vista 6 times in June (using up your alloted Activations over the Internet) so you are now requried to Activate by Phone.

When you Activate by Phone, the automated system may not be able to Activate you, but stay on the line till you can talk to a live person, after a few questions, they should be able to Activate your Vista for you.

    Thank you,

  • Hi Michael,

Unfortunately, that is not possable. There is no ability to reset that allocation. At this point, your only option is to Phone Activate.

    Hi Michael,

Would you download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 , then click the Windows tab, click the "Copy" button, then paste the report into a response message in this thread.

Once I can see the Diagnostic Report, I should be able to supply you will options to resolve your issue.

  • Hi Darin,

Is it possible for the customer rep to reset my alloted Internet Activations? It's just I do a lot of poking around  and tend to muck things up therefore having to reinstall.

    Shall phone.

  • Hi Darin,

I am having a simialr problem to Mike, except mine is an upgrade to Vista Ultimate from XP, and has previously been installed.  However I have removed it form that machine, returning it to XP, and have now upgraded a different machine with this copy of Vista.  I am getting the 0xC003C004 error when I try to activate on-line, and am not offered any telephone activation - what number do I need to call to resolve this?
