  • We have one other thread with this problem in the forum, https://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2561418&SiteID=2, and it remains unanswered.

I agree with Jim's recommendation regarding support.

However, I'll add some other things to try -

    1. If you are pasting the password for your LiveID during activation, try typing it in directly.

    2. If your LiveID password is complex, that is longer than 8 characters and/or contains characters other than letters and numbers, change it temporarily to 8 alpha-numeric characters or less at http://account.live.com and try again

    3. Using an administrative account on your PC, go to Control Panel/Users and add a new User with administrative rights. Log off your PC and log in with the new User. Try to activate OneCare under that User with your subscription LiveID. If it is successful, log out and log back into your regular User account in Windows.

  • I have the same problem as TerryPF - always get Error code 80048265 regardless of removing & reinstalling in various ways. In addition, can't find how to contact a support person !!

    Really frustrating

  • Seems to be a problem connecting to the Live Network.

Do you have accelerators, third party winsocks, proxy settings? Are you in a company network?

  • Hi,

No accelerators, running Internet Explorer 7, no proxy, home wireless network with cable modem.

Problem occurs although there is a good connection to the network. Have two other computers on the network and both are in the Livecare circle.
