This depends on how solutions are layered on your CRM environment during conflict unmanaged solution wins most of the time. please refer following article for this.

so my guess is this could be due to mutiple solutions managed or unmanaged updating same field but generally any changes done on one field should move across successfully. can you please provide more infomation what changes you were doing to field? is it
just display name or any other parameters were changed as well.
