  • Hello Silver,

It appears your Microsoft Office Suite is showing as non-genuine.  Is the Office Suite a trial version which came pre-installed with your system?  Have you installed a trial version of Office Ultimate 2007?  You are receiving an error status 104 which is an unknown PID. This could be attributed to a Beta/Trial version of Office you previously installed and used. In turn maybe some of the remnants were left behind during the removal process. This may have caused the false positive error code 104.  Please use the Office disk and uninstall the software.   Once you have completed the above steps let’s try validating Office again at http://www.microsoft.com/genuine and clicking the “Validate Office” button.  After you have completed the Office removal process and validation is still failing please follow the steps below:

    1) Logon to the PC that is experiencing the notifications as a user with “ADMINISTRATOR” privileges.
    2) Download the tool:
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012   click RUN.
    3) When the tool loads, click “CONTINUE”.
    4) Is the “RESOLVE” button available? If so, please click “RESOLVE” to allow the diagnostic tool repair the issue.
    5) From the Windows tab, click the COPY button.
    6) Please reply back to this post and PASTE the entire results into reply of this post.
We can take a look at it and offer you some suggestions as to how to resolve this issue.

  • Can you try the following steps?  Please make sure you have your product key (for Office) available.

    1) Go to: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Data\
    2) Delete the data.dat file.
    3) This data.dat file is for Office (not OGA).
    4) Once the file has been deleted, open an Office application such as MS Word (or your own personal favorite) and ACTIVATE it.
    5) After product activation is successful, try revalidating (this is the OGA part; Office Genuine Advantage) by visiting:
    http://www.microsoft.com/genuine  and click "Validate Office"

Please let us know if this resolves the problem.

  • When I try and download and use updates for Office XP Pro I get non-genuine product notification. I have also had this for Windows XP Proffessional. Both are OEM copies from a purchased computer.
I know both are genuine copies and have correct code keys inserted.
I know it is possible to get a new code key for Windows XP Proffessional as I have done so and this meant I could use IE7. Could you give me the link to the web page that will let me change the Office XP Pro code key so that I can take full advantage of what I have paid for. I have seen a link for the page before in forum but it was unable to connect me and now I have lost it. Thank you.

  • What is the Microsoft website address I can use to update my code key for Office XP pro to one the validation tool will recognise? I have previously done this for
Windows XP Pro but can't locate the website for Office. Thank you.

  • Hello ahar,

If you installed your Office Suite using your product key, then changing your product key will not resolve the issue.  Please create a new thread in this forum and follow the directions outlined here: http://forums.microsoft.com/Genuine/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2170295&SiteID=25.
