Task Bar/System Tray Icon RRS feed

  • Question

  • The icon for Windows Live OneCare in the task bar will not open Windows Live OneCare anymore.  I have to go to All Programs in the Start Menu to open Live OneCare,  When I do get into the Live OneCare window the link to view the last tune up report DOES NOT work.  The link to view the last back up report DOES work.

  • I've not seen this before. I've seen the report take a very long time to open, but that was a few versions back and during the public beta when the tune-up had found infections during a scan.

My recommendation for contacting support or reinstalling still stand.

Had OneCare failed to open from either link, I'd suggest that .Net was corrupt, but since it opens from Programs, I don't think that is the issue.

  • I'm not sure why the system tray icon won't open OneCare, while the Start Menu shortcut will. When you say that the last Tune-up report link does not work, does OneCare continue to work or is it unresponsive when you click the link?

My suggestion would be to reinstall OneCare or contact support for help:

  • When I click on the "view last tune-up report" link it flashes red and nothing happens.  I am able to use the "view last back-up report" and see the report just fine.
