  • Hi Sanju,

These test are hands on that will mean that Excel is in front of you and you have to solve the problem asked in the question. So no multiple questions.

The duration of the test is 1 hour

You'll get around 38 questions but the questions consists of multiple tasks so one question can be two tasks.

My advice: Read the quetions very good before touching your mouse. Then do what you are asked to do. If you don't know an answer don't panic just skip it, this question will return at the end again. You do have to pace but don't speed up to much and take the time to perform the task.

Good luck on taking the exam and let us know how you did ;-)

  • Hi Sanju,

It's good to hear your friend is thinking along with you. Tests are always difficult but if you have confidence in your own knowledge you should be able to do this. Keep in mind the following options:

    - You really have to know Excel so be prepared for some formulas and functions

    - The ribbon is new in 2007 so you know you can expect a couple of questions about settings. In that case bes sure you know where to find everything in the ribbon. This can be a real time consuming task if you first have to look and find your way around the ribbon.

    - Relax before the test, being tense when starting the exam can cause you to black out on some questions which is not necessary.

    - You are allowed to make a mistake :-) although a perfect score would be nice if you score a little less you will also pass the exam.

    - And my final tip which always works - Ask yourself what you would ask if you were the examinator for this exam? Which questions would you ask.

finally nothing bad will happen if you don't pass the first time. You still have a nice friend and you have the experience of taking this test for the first time.

Good luck on the exam if your are going for it.

  • Hi Sanju,

Congrats on passing the exam. You are now officialy Microsoft Office Specialist Excel 2007 (they changed the name from MCAS to MOS - rebranding matter). On your cv you can refer to your credential this will show future employers that you have good Excel knowledge.

    Go for Access now ;-)
