why is it so difficult to verify your account

it shouldn't be so difficult to verify your account. there needs to be some improvement in the method that Microsoft is currently using!

The exact thread changes periodically, but is always a sticky thread at the top of this forum link:

Agreed, the current method is clunky but it only needs to be done once.

Hello,
It's actually not difficult. Once you get 5 experience points (if I recall correctly) you are automatically verified.
Otherwise you can post in the current sticky thread as Richard suggests.
Sadly, spammers can and do follow that process as well, so we get a bunch of spam.

But at least we no longer get spam with live links or images like we used to.

I've seen spammers post in the sticky, get verified, and then post spam with links, but you are right, it has cut down on them a lot,

It is not just that it is clunky, but also that it completely trashes the entire reportabug forum. There is absolutely no reason to have the validation process taking place here. Validation is not a bug.
If it must be done in a forum (and I really don't see why it does), let there be a dedicated forum for it.
