MCP Site - Access Denied RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello All,

Today, after 10 / 15 days, I tried to access https://mcp.microsoft.com/mcp but it is showing Access Denied. I don't have any clue why it is showing access denied error. I have checked with one of my friend. She is also getting the same error.

Please let me know what shall we do?

    Thank You.

    Thanks & Regards, Hemant Gajbhiye.

  • Do you mean after you passed your first exam and still waiting to associate your live account to your MCP account?

If yes, please consider contacting Microsoft and read the following page for more details.

  • I just accessed the site and it appears to be working properly (although slowly). Perhaps your MCID is not correctly associated to your LiveID. A phone call to your Regional Service Center should fix it.

  • Did it come up and say access is denied and make you sign out and back in again possibly several times before accepting you? That's what it's been doing to me since yesterday. I've been trying to do some research on my next certification path and the MCP site keeps acting crazy. Then at other points in the day it worked just like it was supposed to. Before anyone asks any silly questions yes of course my MCID is linked properly has been for years and I access the site on a monthly basis with no issue until late last night/today! My best answer is MS may finally be doing some updating to the site as it is pretty out of date.

  • @Miltongoh - Relax friend I meant no harm by it, only a playful poke to see if you were paying attention.

@Gajbhyie - What browser were you and your friend trying to view the MCP site in? Before when I was having trouble I was using Chrome, since I first read this post I went back in IE a couple of times and didn't have any trouble but still had it with Chrome. I typically use Chrome and don't have this trouble with the MCP site. Now that CRM also works with Chrome the only time I have to use IE is for the MPN site.

  • This is what I keep getting when I do it in Chrome and I have to sign out and in two or three times before it accepts me in. It isn't happening to me in IE. Are you seeing the same thing as this @gajbhiye?

@Milton I was just reading your blog, I haven't made it all the way through it yet just a couple of articles but I like what I've see so far!

  • Also I have tried clearing my history and such but no such luck so I reported the issue to MS.

  • I encountered that before (or rather always), what I did was "sign out" and "sign in" again.

I usually use IE for this.

  • I've never encountered it before last night, and when you encounter it and sign out and in do you have to do it several times before it goes? If so then this sounds like a very serious problem. Especially if you experience it always. We should all go report it immediately I'm sure Microsoft will be up in arms excited and ready to helps us cure this annoyance immediately and for free! (Please note the extreme sarcasm in most of this reply :D)

  • I just have to always do it once before I can get in.

It seems like the MCP site and the other live accounts SSO site aren't in sync...

  • What you're saying there my Nerdy Amigo is making some sense. I shall give you two cookies as a reward! Since the OP hasn't responded in nearly 24 hours though to any of our suggestions it's hard to make any determinations into their issue.  But I've enjoyed working on this with you, we should become facebook friends and then never speak to each other again! :D No but seriously we do seem to share the same interest in tech and I did enjoy your blog, in fact I tried to subscribe to it using your RSS Atom button but it's broken. Not sure if you knew that or not!
