volume license RRS feed

  • I take care of PCs for nonprofit organizations. On this particuliar PC I fdisk and formatted the hard drive and was trying to reinstall XP pro on to it. I got the error that it would not validate during updates.

    This particular nonprofit the YWCA has a volume license, I downloaded the license Detail today. That number is 17207245. They have ten licenses on it. We had only used three other licenses on other rebuilt PCs. Why and what can I do to fix this problem.

    I would recommend manually validating your copy of Windows via http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/Validate.aspx?displaylang=en and trying to update again.

  • Thanks for answering me.

    Not why it was a problem... I kept trying updating, gave up for the night, then rebooted the next day, started updating and magically I didn't get the errors anymore.

    I am sure the miracle happened last night sometime.

    Have kept the link you gave me and when I log onto that machine again i will check the validation on it.

    Is there a way to track how many licenses I have used from each account without manually tracking it? I tried EOpen License Evaluator but it tells me i have 10 licenses but the they cannot be Analyzed.

    Please repost your query in a NEW thread of your own – and include an MGADiag report of one of the affected machines.
    To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
    Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
    To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
