Office 07 Pro Product Key Not Valid? RRS feed

  • I purchased Office 2007 Pro through an academic purchase program with the Kentucky Department of Education last year.  I am a teacher and purchased the product for home.  I am the only person using this and the validation tool on the Microsoft site says that my version is not genuine because  "The product key used to install Office has been identified by Microsoft as a key that was issued to a large, corporate customer. This key is reserved for the exclusive use of this customer, and cannot be used to install other copies of Microsoft Office."   How is this possible or even ethical?  I was just trying to install the save as PDF plug in on my system...please help.

  • Please uninstall the non-genuine copy of Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage from your computer.  Then visit http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/ and click on Validate Office.

    It's not uncommon to see a scenario like this, but please refer to the link below and run the MGA Diagnostics tool and by providing feedback, we will be able to give you the steps to resolve this:

    You will be prompted to either “Run” or “Save” the tool. Choose to “Run” the tool and follow the on-screen prompts. You will receive an “Internet Explorer-Security Warning” dialog box for the “Windows Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool”; you must choose to “Run” this tool when prompted.

     

    Once you are presented with the Diagnostics tool choose “Continue” to run the diagnostic report. If the “RESOLVE” button is available after running the diagnostics, please click “RESOLVE” to allow the diagnostic tool to attempt a repair.

     

    1.      After running the MGA Diagnostic tool, click on the “Windows” tab and then click on “Copy”.

    2.      Please return to this post and “Paste” the results here for additional review.

    We are sorry to hear about the problem your currently experiencing. I can see right away what the issue is and why you are not passing validation.  Unfortunately, the product key used to install the Office XP Professional with FrontPage is a Volume License Key (VLK) that has been blocked per the request of the legal VLK holder.  As a rule, VLK editions Office should not be sold to individual consumers. Businesses, schools and governments normally use VLK editions for flexibility in installing many computers. Also, Volume Licenses MS Office are Upgrade licenses ONLY and cannot be used as the original or base license for a new computer.

        First, if this comes as a total surprise to you, please visit the retailer where you purchased the software and let them know the software is a counterfeit copy.  Please print a copy of the diagnostic report so you may show them proof for the VLK status.   • Thank you for the advice...however, I purchased this software through the Kentucky Department of Education's website, as did many of my colleagues, for home PC use. This is my home PC that I am having trouble with.

    How can I "visit" the KDE folks to tell them that the company they used ripped off teachers, students, and administrators?  How are we going to be compensated?  I use the programs in Office on a daily basis.  I should not be penalized for what was, on my end, an honest purchase using my hard earned money.

    I will definitely be following up with a letter to Microsoft containing the a copy of the original receipts and emails.  This is ridiculous!!!

    This "solution" did nothing to help me except removing valuable software from my computer that I paid for honestly.  The only "solution" will be to either validate the software I have or for Microsoft to replace it with the comparable version.

    Your computer currently has two installations of Microsoft Office:
    OGA Data-->

    Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 - 100 Genuine

    The much older Office XP Professional with Front Page is the one being ID'd as nongenuine.

    The newer Office 2007 Professional Plus you purchased thru the Kentucky Dept of Ed is being ID'd as genuine.

    If you uninstall the old nongenuine Office XP, everything will be fine.
