Folder not syncing properly

Question
-
Hi,
I have a problem with a folder that doesn't seem to be syncing properly across devices.
The folder in question is where I store my music library and it contains 16057 files, 1601 subfolders and totals 57.4GB. On the device I'm trying to sync it to 7338 files/1601 folders/44.1GB have made it across but now it has just stopped syncing (no activity for hours now and both machines have been idle for that time). Clearly the folder is not in sync across the 2 devices so I'm wondering why syncing has stopped.
The source machine (the one with 16057 files) is running Viats Ultimate, the destination is running Windows 7 beta 1.
Any idea why this might be or how I could investigate?
thanks
Jamie

Hi Jamie,
Well I would say, you're working with two beta's (Windows 7 and Live Mesh) so that would be very difficult to find out who's to blame.
I would suggest try the same sync with two regular versions of windows and when the problem is still there you know you can blame Mesh.

Hi Jamie,
If this behaviour is consistent after a reboot, then I'd say the best thing you can do is collect your logs (actually, for the sake of fixing the bug it's probably best to collect your logs in the "not working stage") and then submitting it as a bug on Connect.
You can sometimes glean some gems from the logs, but I find that very often they are quite hard to read through and understand properly - I imagine the team have nicer log parsing methods than notepad though :)

I agree with Oren, hence marking his post as the answer, Jamie. And I hope that they have a better parsing tool than notepad!

Sorry guys, I'm unmarking as an answer. I want a reply from Microsoft on this and I don't want them to see that the thread is marked as answered and then ignore it.

No need to apologize. If you submit the logs in a bug, it will most certainly not be ignored. :-)-steve

Nor, Jamie, for what it's worth, would your post be ignored simply because it's been marked as answered. ;) We keep tabs on all active threads, regardless of "status" (answered, not answered, proposed answer, or general discussion - i.e., not a question). In this case, Oren is indeed correct. We're going to need your logs (from both the Vista and Windows 7 machines) to determine why the sync operation ceased. Please open a bug and attach your logs, then post the Connect Feedback ID here so that I can follow up on it internally.
Thanks,
Ben.

Just a quick update. Parsed the logs and it's been sent to the sync team for review on what went wrong.

It's in the hands of the sync dev's for a bug fix. Afraid there's not much more I can tell you then that. I know it's something they're definately trying to fix though.Thursday, March 26, 2009 6:02 AM

Thanks, Ken. Then, the post with the link to the bug is the answer for this thread. Jamie, if you get an update from your bug with a future Live Mesh update, if you update the thread, we can change the "answer" post.
