windows 7 upgrade RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have vista home premium but wanted to upgrade to windows 7 professional - I'm hearing that can only be done with a "clean install".  First question is this a good thing to do?  And two, a friend tells me since I have live one care it (you/they) will do the upgrade for me??? If that is possible would I have had to buy it direct from microsoft?

  • You should be able to upgrade Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional. If your Vista installation is problem free an upgrade will be just fine. If there are any problems with your Vista installation a clean installation of Windows 7 would be best.
One Care will have to be uninstalled prior to upgrading to Windows 7 as it is not compatible. You can use Microsoft Security Essentials for malware protection - http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ Your friend was incorrect about the upgrade. Upgrading to Windows 7 is something you will have to do yourself.
