I finally broke down a bought Vista Ultimate Upgrade today with intentions to install the 64 bit version on my XP Pro 32. However, I found out that I can't install Vista 64 with out doing a fresh install on boot. I also recently purchased Office 2007 and several other software packages that I suspect will require going through an activation process if I go through a fresh install even with my existing equipment/hard-drive.
My question is: I would like to go ahead and install Vista 32 for now and either get a new hard-drive for my existing system or wait to get a newer mother-board, cpu, hard-drive, etc... to do a fresh install. Will I have to go through a huge amount of trouble to get Vista 64 reactivated & can I even do a 64 bit install after activating the 32 bit version? Just for reference I have an AMD 4200+ CPU (64 bit supported), 4 GB RAM?
Thanks Greg
