Off topic - Hotmail lockout RRS feed

  • Hello anyone available??? I am experiencing a problem getting back into my email. I have tried resetting it and the question for verifying is not the question that we generally use. I am afraid that someone might have highjacked my account? is this possible? Is there a problem at your site? I set up another account just to check and that worked fine. Problem is I have a lot of stuff on my account that I need access to. It worked for me early in the day on Thur. 12/28/07 but later that day when I went to go back on it was locked. It tells me that it is the wrong password when it is not. I have tried resetting it and it will not allow it. Help...

     

    I don't know how to get to a live person to ask or talk about this with. Ronda

    For help with Hotmail, http://support.live.com

    If you are unable to reset your password and are locked out the account, select Windows LiveID from the list instead of Windows Live Hotmail. You will need to reply to the mail from support and provide proof that the account is yours in order to recover it.

     

    If it is a Hotmail Plus! account, you may be able to get help by signing in at http://support.msn.com

  • i had this problem too! i only just used my email on sunday/monday and on i think it was thursday i tried to access it on my phone as i have many times and it said invalid email/password which i thought was odd. then thursday afternoon i was at a internet cafe and tried to log on and it said i was locked out? it gave me 3 options to reset my password: alternate email - which was wrong! mobile number - also wrong and the owner verification form. i had to do the 3rd option and filled out as much as i could with the time i had left and got given a pin and another link sent to my alternate email so i could log onto a private forum? it said it would take up to 24 hours for a response. after logging on this morning (friday)i had yet to recieve anything and not even sure how im suppose to check the 'status' on the forum so i tried to log on to my hotmail again with no luck i filled out the form again even more detailed than the 1st time as i had more time to remember specific folders and subjects of emails. it has been over 24 hours and no response? when will i hear something back? I study uni online and this email account is absolutely vital to my studies and everything else that has required an email address as a main source of contact. i am absolutely worried i will lose everything, what can i dooooooo???? i feel like im talking to a brick wall in that private forum!

    Only Hotmail Support can assist you if the usual password reset means do not work.

    If you cannot reset the password through the usual means, see this page for information on how to get help with it:

    There is a form to use that Support will act on, but it can take more than a day for them to deal with it. Be sure to enter both the account you cannot access and another account where they can reach you. Once you regain access to the account be sure to set an alternate email address and secret questions and answers for account security at http://account.live.com
