I had a hard drive failure and I did not trust my back-up.

    Question

  • Installed fresh copy of windows Vista and activated it. Downloaded all important updates and installed. Downloaded SP1 and got error 0x8007000D when I tried to run it. Please give me any assistance that you can. I believe this happened the last time I tried to install SP1, SP2 was available and installed fine. I left it that way until some software started to not function properly and some software installed did not show up in programs and features in control panel.

I can see no problems with the report – although the install has not been validated yet.
What happens if you attempt manual validation at www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate?

  • Welcome to Windows!

Because Windows installed on your PC is genuine, enjoy the security, reliability and protection it provides.

This seems to pass the test.

  • What Anti-vurus are you using? Some get *really* snotty about allowing SP's to install.

I'd recommend, anyhow, just installing the SP2 download if you go that route (rather than the SP1) - it'll save time and hassle in the longer run.

  • After running the validation tool I was able to get a little further along. I used the installation tool software provided by the microsoft web site. It repaired an issue with a failed update. Worked great after that. My PC is back to high speed on the reloaded software. I have backed it up on a seperate external drive to re-install as is, if needed.

    Thank You ever so much!

You’re welcome – I assume you’re talking about the CheckSUR tool??
