Question
-
I bought this ASUS eee retail with Windows 7 Starter installed from Newegg a year and a half ago. Suddenly started getting a message that Windows Build 7601 is not genuine. There is a COA sticker on the bottom, but a year and a half later its impossible to read anything on the lefthand side of the sticker. Here's my diagnostic:

No error is showing. Running the MGADiag tool can itself repair some errors. If the error shows up again, try to run the report while the error is showing.
(FWIW this computer is less than a year old),
<Date>20110418000000.000000+000</Date>
You can validate Windows at the below link by clicking on the large blue button on the right that says "Validate Now".

Since you cannot read the emergency product key anymore, you need to order recovery media from the manufacturer or a third party like Recovery-Disks.com just in case you ever need to reinstall Windows. The recovery media does not require a product key. OEM SLP copies of Windows like this self-activate upon installation using the SLIC table in the BIOS for verification.

Not necessarily – the 1005HA was first released in July 2009 :) – it could simply be that the BIOS has been updated.
