Query regarding Deployment Web Service/Tools Role in CRM 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have been trying my hands on installing Dynamics CRM 2013 with split roles in two servers (as of now). I noticed something regarding which I need some help. The scenario is as follows:

When I install Dynamics CRM 2013 in 2 servers, with Front End Server Roles + Deployment Web Service/Tools in one server and Back End Roles in another server, CRM installation works just fine and everything is working. But the moment, the configuration is like Front End Server Roles in one server and Back End Roles + Deployment Web Service/Tools is in another server (basically moving the Deployment Web Service/Tools from front end to back end), the CRM Server installation fails in the back end server with following error:

04:33:30|  Error| Check WebServerValidator : Failure: Data ServerInstallInfo.WebServerSettings is not available.

04:33:30|  Error| Check WebSiteHostHeaderValidator : Failure: Data ServerInstallInfo.WebServerSettings is not available.

04:33:30|  Error| Check WebsiteBindingsValidator : Failure: Data ServerInstallInfo.WebServerSettings is not available.

I am using config xmls for the installation using command line. Is there anything I am probably missing in the back end config xml?

Has anyone done this kind of CRM installation and could probably guide me?

  • The Backend XML should contain this line:

        <WebsiteUrl create="true" port="[Deployment_Web_Site_Port]"></WebsiteUrl>

    Instead of this one:

       <WebsiteUrl create="false" >[App_Service_Site_URL]</WebsiteUrl>

This is because the Deployment Service needs its own web site when installed separate to App Service.
