Office Professional 2007 Not Genuine? RRS feed

  • Question

  •  On eweek ago I purchased from Amazon UK Office Professional 2007 to install on my new Dell laptop and exsiting PC. On both computers having entered the product key a green tick was displayed and the software woked perfectly. The PC was an ugrade install and the new laptop was a new intall.

I was alerted by a popup in Chinese whose Internet address bar read it was a Microsoft Genuine check.I then arrived at this forum and noted the previous advice to run a tes tool and paste the reults on my question mail. Here they are.

Can you tell me whether the software is non-genuine? If so should I pursue the issue with Amazon.co.uk?

    Thanks for your help

    Bob Robbie

  • Hi BobRob18,

The good news is that your Windows installation is a genuine installation of an OEM license for Windows XP Home Edition.  :)

The bad news is that there's a problem with Office.

Here's a snippet from the report:

    OGA Data-->
    Office Status: 108 Invalid VLK
    Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 - 100 Genuine
Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 - 108 Invalid VLK
    OGA Version: Registered,
    Signed By: Microsoft
    Office Diagnostics: B4D0AA8B-604-645_025D1FF3-230-1

Your installation of One Note 2003 is a Genuine installation of a retail license, so that's good.

Your installation of Office Pro 2007 is actually an installation of a Volume License of Office 2007 Professional Plus, a product that is only to be sold to larger businesses, educational institutions, and governmental agencies and used under a valid Volume Licensing Agreement.  Further, this installation was done with an Invalid Volume Licensing Key, meaning the key was made with a pirating program called a Key Generator, and was never issued by Microsoft, making it Invalid.

You obviously purchased this copy of Office from Amazon thinking it was supposed to be a retail license meant for an indvidual consumer such as yourself.  My recommendation is to contact the seller of Office and demand that they send you the genuine retail license for Office 2007 that you were supposed to get, or that they give you a full refund.  If you do not get cooperation from the seller, please pursue whatever remedies are made available to you by the selling venue, Amazon, or by the payment service (for example, PayPal or equivalent).
