The lack of Effective dates - particullarly for Column layouts - is another big disappointment.
Since distinct budget ID's are required for each year (we use B2008, B2009, B2010), we generally have for each generic column layout a specific column layout for each year. So our standard current and prior year-to-date (with budgets) would be
coded 'STD C+PYTD B08', 'STD C+PYTD B09', and 'STD C+PYTD B10'. With effective dates on the column layout - whatever date is selected the appropriate budget will be included.
Without effective dates, it appears we need to have a seperate report definition for each year and users have to be aware of that. With MR, if a user selects the 2010 income statement but runs it as of 12/31/09 they will see 2009 actuals and the 2010
budget since the budget is no longer dynamically changing.
Is there something I am missing here?
