How to creat a new account in HPC server 2008? RRS feed

  • Question

  •  Hi, everybody:
I wonder how can I creat a new account in HPC server 2008. It's really complicated than doing the same thing in windows xp.
    I followed this instruction
    http://www.lockergnome.com/windows/2005/08/12/creat-a-new-account-in-server-2003 ,
Than I added this account to the control panel.
But I can not log on with this message "you cannot log on because the logon method you are using is not allowed on this computer."

could anybody tell me the exact steps to creat the account?

    thanks.

  • Hi Casey,

To create user accounts you will need appropriate permissions for your AD domain.  Assuming you have permission, you will need to install Active Directory Domain Controller Tools on your server.  You can do this from a cmd window with the following command:

    servermanagercmd -install RSAT-ADDC

Now you should be able to open the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in by running dsa.msc (or click 'Active Directory Users and Computers' from 'Administrative Tools').

The snap-in should default to the domain to which the system is already joined.  Right click on the container or OU where you would like to add the new user account and select New --> User.  This should bring up a "New Object - User" wizard.
