Data Migration RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
I have a CRM 3.0 installation. I did a fresh CRM 4.0 installation with some new customizations. Now what i need is to migrate the data from the old version to the new one. I was thinking of using the Data Migration tool but i am thinking that putting all the data on Excel sheets will be hard.
Is there a better way to do it?
    Thanks in advance

  • Hi,

in this case, i would install the CRM 3.0 Servr on a testserver, Update this to CRM4, and then copy the upgraded Database to the new server.

That is the eseast way to migrate the data.

  • yes, it is harder then the way to update the database, but of course, you can export all data to excel nd then import them with the DM Tool

  • Hi,

save the new customizations in XML-Files, Update the CRM 3.0 installation to CRM 4 and then import your customization in the updatet Database. Now you have all Data from CRM3 in CRM 4

  • I can't do this because CRM 4.0 is a total other installation on another server and another database.
    Any other way?

  • So exporting the data to excel sheet and importing them with Data Migration tool will be so hard right?
Or can we find a workaround for it.
