MCSA 2008? RRS feed

  • Question

  • If I take the Server 2008 exam (not sure of the exam number) instead of the 070-291 (Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure), would I still be able to get an MCSA certification?

  • Hello -

If you want to get your MCAS on Server 2003 you must take 070-291.

070-291 is a core exam that can't be replaced. By the way I don't think any of Server 2008 exam is useful for certification toward Server 2003.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Junisa,

I am afraid; it doesn't work this way. To complete MSCA you have to meet requirements for it.

Passing any Server 2008 exams don't count for MSCA.

If you are MCP, login to microsoft.com/mcp site and look at transcript option. It will show you exactly required path to complet MSCA.

  • Firstly ,I am confused ,since you want to take Server 2008 exams ,you will get certified to be the certs on Server 2008 ,while 70-291 on server 2003 will make you certified as MCSA.
Server 2008 exams are backwards compatibile to Server 2003 ,howerver ,it doesnot mean you can get certs on Server 20003 after passing Server 2008 exams .
besides ,70-291 and 70-290 are both required exams for mcsa .so you can not miss or skip one of them .

    So ,do u understand ?
    hope it useful for u

  • Ourexam have two suggests to you:
First, you could go to the vue center to get your exam code.
Second, you can visit Microsoft offical website to know MCSA Exam code.

Keep in mind that Microsoft uses Prometric, not Vue.
