1Care Tune-up Defragmenter. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have 6 computers, running 1care. On all of them, when tune-up runs, I get a report that defrag was unable to complete the defrag, because there were too many fragments and that they will be handled the next time tune-up is run. I get this every time tune-up runs on all 6 computers. Is there a way to for a complete defrag in 1Care?

  • The defragmentation component of the tune-up uses the system defragmenter, but limits its run time, so it often fails to complete. The informational message you’re seeing is thus normal. There isn’t any way to get a complete defragmentation from within OneCare, but running the defragmenter from the system will provide a full defragmentation, and thus allow the tune-up defragmentation component to “catch up” on its work. Click Start, select All Programs, select Accessories, select System Tools, and click Disk Defragmenter.
