Application not found error

  Using Windows 7 I can't seem to click on any of my "FOLDER" desktop icons without getting the "application not found" error.

  If I go into my C drive and find the folder I'm looking for I have to right-click it and open it in a new window in order 

  for it to open. If I just click on the folder I get the (ANF) again. This only happens with my folders. If I click on an application it will open. Please help as I am practically computer illiterate. Thank you in advance.
