sometimes, just sometimes, i think this forums code could use a little tweaking

Personaly I would suggest going for something simpler e.g. Windows (70-680) before hitting on the .NET ect exams to give you a feel of how the process works.
Simpler is a fuzzy term... While people who do support the client exam may be easier, for a programmer who uses .net day in/day out, the 70-536 would be an easier choice.
Like brian already suggested, the 70-536 first:

New to Microsoft Certification (for the programming route): Pass Exam 70-536: TS: Microsoft .NET Framework – Application Development Foundation. This exam is the foundation prerequisite for all Visual Studio 2005 and Visual Studio 2008 MCTS and MCPD certifications.

Hi,
If you are looking for a foundation course and you are a programmer, you shoulod probably try:
Exam 70-536: TS: Microsoft .NET Framework - Application Development Foundation
This is the base exam for all of the .net paths and will give you MCP status. From there the world is your oyster as they say:
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS): .NET Framework 2.0 Web Applications
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS): .NET Framework 2.0 Windows Applications
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS): .NET Framework 2.0 Distributed Applications
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS): .NET Framework 3.5, Windows Presentation Foundation Applications
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS): .NET Framework 3.5, Windows Communication Foundation Applications
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS): .NET Framework 3.5, Windows Workflow Foundation Applications
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS): .NET Framework 3.5, Windows Forms Applications
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS): .NET Framework 3.5, ADO.NET Applications
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS): .NET Framework 3.5, ASP.NET Applications
MCP, MCDST, MCTS x 4, MCITP x 2

The 70-680 has nothing to do with .Net, so why would a programmer pusure that one first? It's an exam for techies, not developers.Friday, September 11, 2009 6:37 PM -
