pc keeps logging me off

  here's whay happened.  my pc is extremely slow so i downloaded several free anti-virus programs to see if i could up my speed.  my computer froze up so i manually shut down.  now, when i start it back up it brings up the initial page, asking you to tap on the person's name, it starts to initiate windows xp and then logs you out.  i cannot even get into windows xp.  please help.  does anyone out there know what happened or how i can resolve?
