CRM 4.0 Tracking sent items from a user's mailbox without CRM Outlook client installed RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are running CRM 4.0 with Exchange 2003 sp1.

In summary we want to automatically track all CRM related mail regardless of its origin (including Blackberry Devices) and regardless of mail flow direction (staff inbox & SENT ITEMS). This must be achieved with ZERO intervention from the user. (much like the Forward Mailbox works for incoming e-mail).

I understand that CRM OOTB will not track a CRM user’s sent items without explicit intervention by the CRM for Outlook plug-in. This means mails sent outside of this Outlook configuration are not tracked into CRM.

We have considered writing/buying a connector to do this. We also believe that Exchange Journaling maybe an option we want to look at, however I have not been able to find any real information of either of these approaches specific to MSCRM.

Has anyone out there tried to achieve this or able to point me in the right direction?

    Many thanks, Ben

  • You are correct that the Outlook client does this.  I haven't seen an Exchange solution to do it.  Maybe if you could come up with a way to have all emails copied to the forward mailbox.
