Is drag and drop working? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is drag and drop supposed to be working with the current version?  When I drag a file from the Live Desktop to the desktop on my Vista SP1 desktop what I get is a .png file, not the file I dropped.  I am using IE7 for this.

  • you can currently only drag and drop from your desktop to the live desktop (in IE, with the remote desktop plugin installed - if it isn't installed it'll ask to install it the first time you try to drag a file onto the desktop).

According to the message (and other things from the blog) this is a "yet" - so it's a feature that's coming.

  • Thanks for the reply.  I did not try that direction but it does work dragging from my local desktop to the live desktop.

The latest blog entry (October 31 2008) I found regarding drag and drop states:

"One of the most frequently requested features since we opened Live Mesh as a technology preview in April has been the ability to drag and drop files and folders to and from your Live Desktop. We’re extremely happy to be able to say: You can do this now!"

Dragging to the live desktop works.  Dragging from the live desktop does not.  I'm sure they'll work this out because it would be very useful, at least for me and it's all about me, right?
