  Also- I tried to validate my Windows version online, and it said that it was unable to do so because I don't have the correct browser plug-in. However, I was able to validate using the alternative method listed on that page. After a couple of reboots, though, the message is still there on the bottom right of my desktop. Thanks again for any help in resolving this matter.

  Hello,

  I reinstalled Vista and after a few reboots, the message "this copy of windows is not genuine" appeared in the lower right-hand corner of my desktop. I ran a diagnostic and this came up. Any help would be much-appreciated. Thank you.

  I can se nothing wrong with your report other than the obvious 'Invalid License' statement - which leads me to think that your Licensing store has somehow become corrupted.

  To recreate the Licensing Store, please follow these instructions:-

  1) Open an Internet Browser window.
  2) Type: %windir%\system32 into the browser address bar.
  3) Find the file CMD.exe
  4) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select 'Run as Administrator'
  5) Type: net stop slsvc  (it may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
  6) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing
  7) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
  8) Type: cd %windir%\system32
  9) Type: net start slsvc
  10) Type: cscript slmgr.vbs -rilc (It may take a long time for this to complete, please be patient)
  11) Restart your computer twice.
  12) You may be required to enter the Product Key and/or Activate. (Be sure to use the Product key from the sticker on the side or bottom of the PC and to Activate by Phone)
