CRM 4.0 Installation problem with SQL Reporting Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I am installing CRM 4.0 on our network and have come up against an issue with SQL Reporting Server which is stopping me from being able to finally install CRM.  In the final checks it is coming up with the following error:

Setup failed to validate specified Reporting Services Report Server http://sqlserver/reports. Error: The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.

The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.

On the IIS server I can log on to the above URL, enter my credentials and the report server site is displayed.  I created a domain account which is a local admin on both the IIS and SQL servers but still having the same problems.

Cany anyone point me in the right direction?

    Many thanks

  • hi.

    strange error...

make sure that the services are stopped during the installation. restart the Computer where it demands.Try to ReInstall the IIS and then access the Report server by web.

Let me know if it works

  • check your deployement manager (start --> all programs --> microsoft dynamics crm 4.0 --> deployement manager)

    Choose organisations at the left.

select your organisation & click on disable at the right.

select your organisation & press edit organisation

make sure the URL at the bottom is the same as the url of your reporting services. (http://servername: port/reportserver in my case)

    click next

Make sure u re-enable ur organisation after the wizard ends

  • Hi

Many thanks for all your responses.  Managed to solve the problem.  Turns out that it was nothing more than an incomplete URL for the Report Server.  I should have used http://sqlserver/reportserver instead of using http://sqlserver/reports.  Oh well, you live and learn.

Many thanks for all your responses anyway.

    Best regards,

    Douglas

  • In the directory security in IIS for ReportServer at Default Web Site or wherever it is located disable Anonymous access and check Integrated Windows Autentification.

That solved the problem for me.

I have tried everything and this is what I have done to continue with installation.

  • Hi,

I had the same problem (The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found) when trying to execute a report on CRM.

Following Bertwijns steps have solved my problem, for some reason I was missing the port in the URL. So, with following Bertwijns steps solution I just had to add :5555 on the URL because on my CRM web site (IIS) it is used 5555 as port number.

Now all the reports are being executed ok on CRM, it works,

    Thank you,

    Alejnandro

  • I had the same problem, when installing CRM 4 on Windows 2008 SP1 with SQL 2008 SP1.  My solution was to use the IPv4 ip address of the sql server instead of the server name.  Thusly: http://192.168.2.23/ReportServer, when asked for the Reporting Server
